boo's potty training began in earnest today. i'll spare the details. suffice to say i spent a lot of time in the bathroom reading mindless stories today and my brain was about to go bonkers. i was about ready to throw in a towel (because many had already been thrown about the house in cleanups) when he started playing with the door to the bathroom and shut himself in. fine, i thought, i need a little break anyway. a few minutes later i heard "uh oh! uh oh!" and lo and behold, the first #2 in the potty!
so i gave him the "big present" that he had been promised - a thomas the train engine set of duplos. (a 100+ piece set found at a neighborhood garage sale for $6 a few months ago, and waiting for just this sort of event.) he unveiled it and with big eyes and a big 2 year old voice uttered "ooohhhhhh .... it's GORgeous!!!" i just about fell over laughing. i don't know where he got that. certainly not my husband. the only time i might have said that recently was when my mother-in-law was showing me my sister-in-law's wedding dress on skype a couple of days ago. i thought he was playing with a toy somewhere else in the room. clearly he is taking it all in.
the other little phrase he loves today: "i love you little greenie. bon appetit!" he says it and keels over with giggles. (from the book, "i love you stinky face.")
