falling for ewe yarn swap q&a

the summer of love yarn swap was so much fun i'm doing it again - the "falling for ewe fall yarn swap." here are the answers to the q&a for my swap partner.

I knit and crochet. been knitting/crocheting seriously for about 6-7 years, though i learned as a kid. haven't ventured into spinning.

favorite yarns: soft ones. don't like scratchy fibers (unless they're really cool colors, like noro, and can be felted). especially not a fan of angora or mohair.

favorite colors: earth tones, rich jewel tones. i am drooling over some of the great adirondack colorways: http://www.dknitting.com/dyes.htm. (not sure what kind of yarn these colorways are in, i'm just picking this site because i looked at it recently and wanted to show a few examples of what colors i like)
- under new colors: "high peaks"
- under jeweltones: "amethyst", "iris", "sundance",
- under brights: "rainbow", "paradise"
big fan of noro colors. i just got some noro iro that i'm dying to do something with. favorite colors overall: burgundy, deep blue (not necessarily together). not a fan at all of pastels, especially pink.

favorite projects: ones that don't require precise gauge :) hats, scarves, stoles. small things for my toddler boy. been wanting to do more toys/amigurumi but i just haven't finished sheldon the turtle yet.

i'd be interested in trying yarns that are eco-friendly, since being green is a big interest of mine in other aspects of my non-knitting life.

i plan to start lots of christmas gifts this fall! i have the yarn already for most of them. mostly scarves out of alpaca or cashmere. also want to make a wonderful wallaby hoodie for my son out of the blue/orange bengali yarn that i have.

favorite finished object ... probably the hooded vest.
oldest unfinished object ... i think i have a baby blanket that i started crocheting out of that bright acrylic boucle you can get at joann's. it was just way too bright, too many bobbles, and a feather/fan pattern i hated.

would like to learn how to do socks. i have all the books and needles and yarn, just haven't yet had the time!

i have both a swift and a winder. i keep my needles in the knitpicks needleholder (which i hate) and a lantern moon case (which i love but it's not portable). i have the sketches of a design for my own needle holder but i haven't gotten around to making it yet.

i collect ... neat paper (like handmade, washi/asian), knitting books :), pingu items

favorite music ... josh groban, sarah mclachlan, folky women. been eyeing il divo. definitely up on mp3/itunes.

i like sweets but have been trying to cut back. favorites: frangos (chocolate mints) and coffee ice cream.

what is my living situation like? that's an interesting question, not sure what that's getting at. i'm really fortunate to have a wonderful husband who lets me indulge in my yarns/crafts. i have a son who is almost 3 and a medium size dog who we conjecture to be some sort of lab/border collie mix.

i'm allergic to cats.
