ugh

(boring health update, just writing to record a bit a misery)
haven't written for ages as i've been socked in with a parainfluenza virus. boo got the croup the day before thanksgiving. that's the one where the kid's airway is swollen and coughing sounds like a barking seal. one of my pediatrician friends told me that she recently woke up and wondered whose dog was making all the commotion, before she realized that it was her 3 year old trying to cough. scary! i'm even a doctor (albeit not a pediatrician) and i've heard this cough before, but it's still totally scary when it's your own kid trying to breathe and crying "make it stop mommy, make it better!" it was really only bad for one evening (though that was quite a long night), and then he was mainly only affected a bit at night for a few more days. mommy, on the other hand, came down with a bad cough / laryngitis / malaise / sinusitis for two weeks, and was watching so many movies for a week straight (and this from someone who rarely even watches TV) that boo would clamor "let's take a break mommy! turn off the TV!" i'm even self-medicating with DH's inhalers right now, because it really is quite a spasmodic albuterol-responsive cough/shortness of breath that i have now. ugh!
