on friday we checked out evanston with three goals in mind:
1. lunch at the dixie kitchen. i shall forever crave their fried green tomatoes. DH had their version of the eggs benedict, the eggs sardou: "Poached Eggs atop our famous Fried Green Tomatoes
with Creamed Spinach, Artichoke Hollandaise, and Cornbread Croutons." perhaps the best eggs benedict i've ever tasted. i had the shrimp po'boy - also a gem.
(i can't believe they're closing the original location!)
2. beach. see above. i came poorly prepared, as the weather has been chilly this week; i was expecting even cooler temps at the lakefront. not so. therefore, boo was running around the beach in naught but his hat and thomas underwear.
3. vogue fabrics - to find ribbon in the precise shade of eggplant required of my SIL's wedding. found!
