here are just a few of the wonderful things that my mother-in-law created for her daughter's wedding.

Arielle's and DH's brother Graham officiated (thank you internet), and she sewed these robes out of linen she'd kept from her mother. She learned to knit entrelac for the vestments - knitted out of purple Euroflax linen and Prism's KidSlique. Then she figured out how to make it U-shaped so that it would drape nicely around the shoulders.

These flower girl baskets are decorated with a multicolor ribbon that I found at my local yarn store. The handles are wrapped with it, and she knitted a garter stitch border that made it just stretchy enough to wrap around the edges. The purple ribbon is from the bridesmaid's dresses.

The flower girl headpieces are made with the most delicate silk flowers and beribboned with the same two ribbons above. I should have taken a closeup pic of the flowers, they really are lovely.

For her garden, she created "Little Fur Family" houses based on the book from Margaret Wise Brown, that was a favorite of DH's and now of boo's. Check out the landscaping! There's also a solar powered lantern that turns on at dusk ... she told boo that the little fur family comes home and turns it on. Completely magical, they enchanted young and old alike at the parties. (and probably sold a lot of door/window sets from Plow & Hearth.) During the last days of our visit, boo & grandma had a great time clearing a path to another giant oak tree for another house.

and we can't forget the matching ringbearer pillows that we made long ago.

Here is an absolutely amazing sampler that she embroidered. The invitation was printed horizontally originally but printed vertically here to fit the box. The moss green silk that serves as the background is the same silk used to make the ringbearer pillows.

whew! i'm getting tired just listing them all! and that's not even all ... my favorite will wait till the next post.
