it was better than disneyland. thomas the train engine came on tour to the illinois railway museum and we got tickets to ride aboard.
the ride itself was fun but definitely not the highlight of the trip. my 6 year old nephew was bored. clearly the excitement of star wars and avatar have replaced the love of thomas by this age.
for boo, however, these are definitely the sweet spot years for it. he jumped for joy at seeing thomas and was so excited to see all the trains.
the highlight for both kids were the handcar rides.

still a little uncertain of the big costume characters. disneyland is definitely not in the cards for us in the near future. if a gentle sir topham hatt can't win him over, a scary mouse certainly won't do it for him.
