all year boo has been talking about septemberfest. "Yesterday, we took a school bus to Septemberfest!" particularly amusing because last year he really didn't do anything - rode maybe 2-3 rides. but he rode a school bus with his cousin, and that made a huge impression. it wasn't the first (or last) time he rode a school bus - he's ridden one several times to watch mommy or daddy in various triathlons - but it must be the ride with N. that makes the difference. or it's the pleasure of saying a word like Septemberfest.

at any rate, we had to go again this year. unfortunately DH was working again so it was just the two of us with my brother and his family. it was even more of a hit this year. he rode the truck ride (pictured above) about 10 times, no joke. definitely made the most out of his wristband. he also rode the fun slide about 5-6 times and went through the fun house about 3-4 times (despite being freaked out each time by the slightly hallucinogenic tumbler that you had to walk through at the exit). his first bumper cars - squeals of delight when we hit the car with his uncle & cousin again and again!
we did a couple of the games that you could win large prizes at, which he loved doing but then had no interest in the prizes whatsoever. he's a process man, i suppose.

they got to be "rescued" through a window from a "burning" house by the fire department.

the best part for me? aside from seeing him So excited and happy at the rides, it was the peaceful walk along the park away from the crowds.
